lot # 195 - Argentina general issues

Tuesday Apr 22, 2014 18:00 America/Argentina/Buenos_Aires

GJ.2221, 1985 Cactus flower, ORIGINAL ARTIST DRAWING used for the vignette (size 92 x 102 mm), unique and extremely rare piece! NOTE: When the Argentine Post was privatized in the 1990s, the new company had to return to the State the building of the Central Post Office, moving the postal administration to a smaller building. In that process, incredibly and without any supervision, almost all the archive of the state Post was destroyed or thrown away, including proofs, essays, artist drawings and thousands of other pieces that would have belonged to a Museum, great collections, or that would have had an important historic value. Fortunately, a few items were rescued from the paper shredder by some postal workers, and then sold in the philatelic market, and that is why these fantastic drawings can be offered.
