BAHAMAS: 1864 (Dec 16) Large linen envelope sent registered to England with red type CC2 "PAID / AT / BAHAMAS" crown circle hs, with Nassau and London registered ds and crown reg'd hs adjacent, edges of envelope folded behind to dosplay, some ageing, fine and rare especially registered, described by Christie's in Nov 1992 as "probably a blockade run cover from the Confederate States", not more than 45 recorded according to Freeland, and one of very few known registered, ex Vivien Sussex (SG £2'250)
