1854/55, Two singles of 4a. blue & red, Head Die III, Frame Die II, tied by diamonds of bars to folded cover 1857 from Madras to Marseilles per steamer, with '8. May 1857' depatch d/s, "INDIA PAID" in crescent and 'Marseille via Suez' ship mail d/s all in red on front. The two examples of the 4a. from a worn state of a late printing were cut-to-shape (somewhat irregular) and paid the ship rate of 8a. (or 1/-), the folded cover (no contents) of fine appearance.
