1913 New Zealand KEVII 1⁄2d block of four with central "SOUTH POLE CARNIVAL DISASTER / CHRISTCHURCH / 24 FEB. 1913" datestamp in violet, light staining to a few perfs, otherwise fine and scarce. The carnival was held on this one day to raise funds for families of those who lost their lives on the expedition; very few examples of the special datestamp are recorded. Photo on Page 17.
