The 2023 Summer Auction - Sale 340 Day 4

1900 (Sep 20) registered cover from Bridport to "J.M Reid, China Inland Mission, Shanghai",backstamped at Hong Kong, redirected to Chefoo with a violet handstamp, backstamped upon arrival and endorsed " Received open at this office, officially sealed here". All four sides are resealed with white paper tape and tied by 4 wax seals, each impressed with bilingual "POST OFFICE/ CHEFOO", and three boxed Japan Miyazaki cachets in red, plus two datestamps. The cover then redirected back to Shanghai, backstamped "REGISTERED-SHANGHAI" by the Shanghai LPO. A remarkable item with rare Chefoo Post Office wax seals, possibly the only surviving example of these seals.

1900年9月20日英國寄上海內地會掛號封，經過香港和日本轉遞，再轉寄煙臺。郵局代封，四邊貼有白紙條，蓋有日本宮崎縣日戳和宮崎縣郵便電信局碑型戳，並且蓋了4枚十分罕見的煙臺郵政局英漢蠟封戳。此封最後再轉回上海，背面蓋有上海書信舘掛號戳。這可能是此煙臺郵政局英漢蠟封戳的僅存例子。十分珍罕。
