lot # 10088 - Israel israel - interim period (1948) - safad locals
SAFED, the May 1948 10c Local plus entire, fantastic holding incl. unused full sheet of 6, the UNIQUE strip of 3 on white paper (Bale $7'000), a booklet pane of 6 (rejoined), an addressed FDC (cert. Muentz), completely imperf T margin single, 3 unused essay entires (Bale 124-E, $600 each), and L margin single tied to ppc of interior of the "Ari" synagogue and one of only about 10 commercial pcs used from Safed during this period. The lot also shows covers with Mandate frankings tied by the interim cds (May 7-14), Safed Local franking covers (19, incl. several commercial) with some showing missing perforation (at top, at left, at bottom, etc.) tied by s/l boxed ds (May 4, First Day, Bale Pmk E-1) or by interim cds (Pmk E-2); dates incl. May 6/14, with several May 11, the "Day of Liberation." Would make a powerful one-frame exhibit considering the rarity of much of the material, huge nominal Bale catalogue value (US$20'000++) for what is listed, very fine overall
Estimate: € 6'000 - € 10'000
