1898, ONE OUT OF TWO RECORDED FRANKED OTTOMAN COVERS FROM "SOUDA" (CRETE). Souda double-ring seal cancel in BLACK (unique), ideal strike on four "5 Cinq Paras" stamps on the reverse of envelope sent via Hania to Constantinople. This is the only known strike in black colour, the other recorded cover shows a blue strike and was offered by David Feldman in 2006. No other cover from Souda showing Ottoman Post have ever been reported. One of the greatest postal history rarities of the Ottoman Post in Crete. Very Fine. Catalog Price 5800.00
