1936 (Mar 17) Cover from Port Moresby to the "HQ of the Archbold Expedition, Upper Fly River, via Daru" inscribed "Per Seaplane Kono", franked 1932 1d and 2d. Flown by the Second Archbold Expedition seaplane "Kono" to Daru on 18th March with an arrival backstamp, signed by the pilots Russell Rogers and Richard Archbold, again flown by the "Kono" on 18th June from Daru to Mount Blucher Police Camp, dropped by parachute as the plane was unable to land, signed by Michael Healy and Alan Willis at Mt. Blucher, with a Daru (June 18) c.d.s on the front. Very scarce, just 12 covers carried on the 18th March flight only a few of which were again flown on the June 18th flight. AAMC P97/103, $700+.
