The 1st session and separate catalog on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. will consist of the MINT British Commonwealth Collection of “David B. Markowitz”. The 532 single lots and country collections will be highlighted by G.B. SG#2 (cert.); Australia including all of the £1 values, and States; strong Canada & Provinces with New Brunswick Scott #3 (numerous certs.); Newfoundland Scott #9 (cert.), and #C1, Canada Scott #13 (cert.); Ceylon; Hong Kong; East Africa & Uganda; Malayan States; St. Christopher SG#27 (cert.); Cape of Good Hope including SG#13 (cert. - “one of the finest known”); Mafia Island; etc.
The 2nd session of 252 lots on Thursday at 9:00 p.m. will contain Coins & Currency of mostly U.S., Canada, Mexico with gold; and U.S. Notes.
The 3rd session on Friday at 3:00 p.m. will contain 630 lots of Foreign and British Commonwealth singles. British Commonwealth will include Great Britain with the rare 1935 2½d Silver Jubilee Prussian Blue mint SG#456a (cert.), V.R. Official SG#V1 mint (cert.); the third known and only certified copy of Bechuanaland Protectorate SG#F2 mint; Canada & Provinces; and Orange Free State with proofs and scarce varieties.
The 4th session on Friday at 8:00 p.m. will contain about 800 lots beginning with Autographs and Aerophilately rocket mail including 1958 Point Magu (Ellington-Zwisler #22C1), and one of only 2 documented 1966 Surveyor Moon Vehicle Test cover (Ellington-Zwisler #96). The session will continue with U.S. State and Express Postal History and a “Gun Advertising” section. U.S. singles of approximately 680 lots follow highlighted by a newly certified (and second recorded) copy of First Day cover of the 1893 2¢ Columbian; #356 used (highest recorded grade 75); #414 never hinged grade 100; and #C23c certified used on cover (few known). This will be followed by a Possessions section with Hawaii.
The 5th session on Saturday at 6.00 p.m. will conclude with 680 U.S. and Worldwide Collections. The U.S. “Collections & Various” of almost 450 lots begins with 9 lots estimated at over $10,000 including a spectacular intact collection valued at $100,000; “Postage and Modern Collections”, grouping of “Back-of-the-Book” with a separate Revenue section; “Possessions”, and 75 “Postal History” lots. It will continue with 120 Commonwealth country and general collections (see 1st session) with Great Britain; and Canada & Provinces.
