1936 (Aug 21) Cover from Tel Aviv to Germany franked 7m and 8m, recovered from the "Scipio" crash at Mirabella Bay, handstamped red "Mit Luftpost befordert / Flughafen Nurnberg / Furth", the reverse with a Munich label printed in German explaining that it was recovered from a plane crash in Crete. Fine and scarce.

Also 1937 (Dec 1) cover from Jerusalem franked 5c pair to the USA, upper right corner damage, twice handstamped boxed "DAMAGED BY SEA / WATER" and "T/20", from the "Cygnus" which crashed at Brindisi. 1937 (Dec 1) Cover from Haifa to Vienna franked 15m, recovered from the "Cygnus" crash at Brindisi, handstamped violet "Bei Flugzeugabsturz / durch Wasser beschadigt" with a Vienna arrival c.d.s (Dec. 11). Central vertical fold and part flap missing, otherwise fine, this scarce cachet only used on mail to Austria.

Lot #182 - holy land crash covers
1968 (Apr 6) Cover from Harrow to Kfar Saba, Israel, franked 1/-, with violet boxed cachet in Hebrew which translates as "Letter damaged in aeroplane crash". The BOAC flight on April 8th from London to Sydney made an emergency landing when an engine fell off two minutes after its original take-off and the plane caught fire; four passengers and a Stewardess were killed.
