Interasia’s November 1-4 auction of China, Hong Kong and Asian stamps and postal history will take place at the Excelsior Hotel in Causeway Bay in Hong Kong. The four day, 4,500-lot sale includes another outstanding offering of China and Hong Kong stamps and postal history, with important Ching Dynasty and Republic, substantial postal history, and large offerings of both People’s Republic and Liberated Areas. Hong Kong and Treaty Ports alone comprises over 650 lots and includes a mint Q.V. 96c. olive-bistre.
This Session is the over 1,300-lot section of People’s Republic of China and Liberated Areas and represents another outstanding offering of these popular subjects, for which Interasia has become known. One of the largest offerings of Liberated Areas in recent years – 550 lots – contains a wealth of elusive stamps and choice postal history, highlighted by the unique example of Jiangxi Red Post 1931 1c. (Yang RP9). Complementing multiple examples of the popular sets and miniature sheets of the general PRC issues are a range of complete sheets including the 1968 Chairman Mao Directives (W10) and the 1980 Year of the Monkey (2 sheets) and rarities, including 1952 Russian Revolution Soviet error set unused and used, 1958 Student Congress inscription errors unused and 1968 “Whole Country is Red” unused and used.
