(Naval) 1842 (Jul. 9) U.S.S. Boston at Macao Roads to Cincinnati Oh. via New York. Folded letter endorsed "p. Cincinnati", carried privately to care of New York forwarder, entered mails with red "New-York Dec 21" cds and blue ms. "25" cent due rating on reverse to Cincinnati, fresh and Very Fine, a scarce incoming letter from Macao.
Estimate; $300 - 400.
Letter reads in part, "This squadron now goes to cruise until January to the Sandwich Islands then to the Friendly, Fiji & others in the South Pacific arriving in Valparaiso about first of January & in Lima about 1st Febry…".
