Kit Carson, Colorado May 10/70. Combination Printed (As Part of Corner Card) and Manuscript Postmark. Webster, Musick & Cuniffe corner card cover to Trinidad, franked with manuscript canceled 3¢ Banknote grilled, with original billhead enclosure, with additional corner card 3¢ pink entire from correspondence canceled by light cds and two enclosures confirming Webster, Musick & Cuniffe acted as forwarding agents, also a third different merchant corner card cover with manuscript canceled 3¢ Banknote and no postmark; some cover soiling, F.-V.F., a rare group showing unusual postmarks from Kit Carson.
Estimate; $500 - 750.

A VERY RARE USAGE OF THE WEBSTER, MUSICK & CUNIFFE/KIT CARSON CORNER CARD AS A POSTMARK.

The town name formed part of the printed corner card of the Webster, Musick & Cuniffe, who also where proprietors of the Overland Transit Co. at this time. The postmaster simply added the date in manuscript. This company operated as express and forwarding merchants to such places as Trinidad, Pueblo and Santa Fe. A stunning and important usage.
