Blue "4956" handstamp, small scuff, used with Panama 1894, 10c on 50c brown, vertical pair, tied by "Panama, 7 Nov 1894" duplex on Mallet correspondence cover to London, England, Nov. 28th arrival backstamp; small edge tear, flap tears, F.-V.F., A scarce multiple of this overprint issue used on cover.

A study of multiples of the 1894 issue has established three different settings of the 10¢ surcharge overprint. The vertical pair on this cover is from the 7th and 8th rows of the 3rd setting and each is a variety. The upper example's overprint height is 13.4mm and has a comma after centavos, while the lower example measures 13.2mm, instead of the usual 15.5mm.
