CHINA - France, 1907, attractive registered UPU Swatow print illustrated postcard, hand-painted at the back, sent from Foochow French Consulate to Vannes via Siberia (in manuscript). Card originally franked with C.I.P. 4c+10c(traces at the right edge, but no trace of cancel) stamps which have been removed officially by post office clerk at the P.O. due to regulation that CONSULAR MAIL was FREE OF POSTAGE. Card shows Registration cachet with Foochow filled in ink, French Consulate chop, transit Shanghai and arrival Vannes c.d.s. An extraordinary item, where a registered Post card is selected for Free transmission, based on Consular cachet. probably unique.
