Letter was sent via Marseille. Rate paid to port of arrival - PP & PD markings applied. Letter was carried via Messageries Imperiales Marseille-Alexandria and Peninsular & Oriental Line from Suez via Bombay to Point de Galle, redirected to Colombo and marked with "COLOMBO POST NOT PAID". Rated in Ceylon with the 1d colonial rate - assessed for mail to British Colonies. Only recorded letter to Ceylon. Exceptional exhibition piece, SBPV & Eichele certificates. SBK 24D, 26C.
