60 reis black, Early Impression, a superb large margined horizontal pair, vertical bend between stamps in margin, used on reverse of 21 December 1845 entire letter endorsed "p. Salvador" to Rio de Janeiro, cancelled by centrally struck circular "CORREIO GERAL DA BAHIA" handstamp (Ayres fig. 1556) in black, with circular dated "CORREIO GERAL DA BAHIA" datestamp on obverse (Jan 3) in black. Illustrated in Juchert "Bull's Eyes on Covers" on page 65. Just three covers recorded from Bahia, this being the sole cover known from Bahia with this cancellation. Superb and most attractive entire.
