China, 1897 Large Wide Surcharge on Dowager 2nd printing 1c. on 1ca. red-orange interpanneau block of ten (5 x 2) with interpane margin at left and between 4th and 5th stamps, variety imperforate vertically between 1st and 2nd stamps, forming a block of four imperforate vertically containing two horizontal imperforate between pairs, the lower two stamps of which are also variety "no stop" after "cent", cancelled by "Customs/Shanghai" double-ring d.s. of "Mar 24 1897" in brown, extremely fine and a phenomenal block containing this variety. Chan 57e.
