China, 1880 (21 May) neat envelope to Paris (12.7) readdressed to Luc sur Mer in Calvados (14.7), showing on reverse "I.G. of Customs/Peking" double-ring origin d.s. in blue, "Customs/Shanghai" double-ring transit d.s. also in blue alongside, and bearing on front Hong Kong 1880 Provisional surcharge 10c. on 16c. yellow wing margin, ideally tied by "S1" barred obliterator, matching "Shanghae/A" c.d.s. (25.5), showing "Hong Kong/Too Late/C" c.d.s. (31.5) and "Poss. Angl./Paq. France. No. 7" octagonal d.s. (7.6) in blue on reverse, and "Indo-Chine/Paq. Fr. Modane" c.d.s. (12.7) in red on front, extremely fine. From the Garnier correspondence. An outstanding usage through the Customs Post in Peking and a rare stamp on cover. S.G. Z790.
