Lebanon Austria office, cover sent from Tripoli on 22/1/1901 via Beirut to Italy, where arrived on 30/1/1901. Linear handwritten “Tripoli 22/1/1901” jointly at Beirut cancel added the day after. On the back the preprinted seal of Italian Consulate with the adjective “Generale” hidden together with overprint that added “Tripoli”. At the time, the General Consulate of Italy was based in beirut, Tripoli was only a consular agency. First trace of the Austrian Lloyd post office opening in Tripoli before the use of linear seal. B.
