COSTA DE ORO. 1870 (Jan 19). Envelope, embossed seal of the Colony on reverse, mailed to Edinburgh with fair ´CAPE COAST CASTLE´ code A, datestamp in black of despatch, rated ´6´ pence in red manuscript prepaid for ½ ounce rate. Reverse with Edinburgh Feb 19 arrival cds. Very scarce: the datestamp in black was used on prepaid letters until Nov. 1871 only; thereafter on unpaid letters.
