1914(May) Stampless envelope to Naples from Italian soldier cancelled Sokna/Fezzan-Tripolitania with alongside Comando Di Tappa /Socne unit hand stamp & on reverse further strike sealing the envelope & with faint arrival date stamp.....At the end of the Italo-Turkish War although Tripoli & Cyrenaicia were annexed by Italy they could not control the Arabs in the Fezzan. In early 1913 the Maini column spent 18 months in the desert fighting the Arabs & finally conquerting them in August 1914. However the Italian occupation of the Fezzan was short lived and abandoned because of the outbreak of World War 1 & the Turkish sponsored Senussi uprising forcing the Italians to leave the Fezzan for the coast.
