Brazilian framed PD' in red at left and further French 'P.D.' alongside 'Bresil / Calais' entry marking (July 5) in red. Reverse with Estagel arrival cds in black. A charming and scarce cover. Signed Goebel.

1861: 430 r. yellow, clear to large margins, used on January 1866 entire letter to Liege, Belgium tied by dotted handstamp in black with 'Correio Gera Da Corte / Brazil' cds of depatch at right. Framed 'PD' in red at top and 'Bresil / Bordeaux' entry mark in red (Feb 18). Reverse with Liege arrival cds (Feb 19). Some edge wear but a rare single franking to an unusual destination. Cert. 1866: Dom Pedro 10 r. vermilion, a magnificent block of ten used on reverse of 1877 single rate cover from Mogy Mirim to Rio de Janeiro, front panel with faint 'Mogy Mirim' despaatch cds in black, the block tied by segmented cork cancels and 'Rio de Janeiro' arrival cds's (April 30) in black and by distribution '1a' handstamp. Opens well for Exhibit display, a fine and attractive cover.

1866: Dom Pedro 20 r. reddish lilac, 50 r. blue and 200 r. black used in combination with 1876/77 rouletted 100 r. green on 1876 cover to Ashford, England endorsed 'per Douro' tied by segmented cork handstamps in black. Rio De Janeiro cds of despatch below (Aug 26). The envelope slightly wrinkled but a rare four colour mixed issue franking.

1866: Dom Pedro 20 r. reddish lilac, 100 r. green and 200 r. black all used on 1874 entire letter endorsed 'Gironde' to Bordeaux, the adhesives tied by segmented cork handstamps in black with 'Rio de Janeiro' despatch cds at left (July 17) and framed 'P.D.' struck in blue. Reverse with Bordeaux arrival cds (Aug 5). A few minor imperfections but an attractive three colour franking.

Blue 'Bresil / Bordeaux' entry marking (Dec 19) also on front. The cover with file fold and somewhat vandalised by the recipient who has drawn on the 80 reis pair in ink.

Fresh and fine, a rare and most attractive entire.

French Paquebot RIO JANEIRO / PAQ. FR. J No. 4 datestamp below (Jan 4) and reverse with Bordeaux arrival cds (Jan 27). Despite the imperfection an attractive three colour franking at 800 reis double rate.
