Also later items to Trinidad, New Zealand, Sierra Leone or Germany, and a card to "Perth, N.B" with "T" handstamp applied in error then crossed out. (12).

Jersey. 1943-44 1/2d - 3d Epreuves-de-luxe proofs in issued colours, each with imprint of "Atelier de Fabrication des Timbres-Poste Paris" on gummed paper, 143x118mm, with a tissue-paper backing, the odd light crease, mainly very fine. (6).

1855 Stampless cover containing a surgeons certificate, sent from Douglas to Castle Rushen with a green Isle of Man datestamp and scarce "2d" charge mark in black. Redirected to Kirk German and Peel, endorsed "not for German" and "Refused", presumably returned to the sender with a further Isle of Man datestamp on the front. Backstamped at Isle of Man, Peel, and twice at Ramsey. An interesting and scarce unpaid cover, the 2d charge mark...

1868 (Feb 14) Embossed Valentine envelope sent locally to a lady in Ramsey with 1d red tied by Ramsey 036 duplex, a couple of tears or small pieces missing fromthe embossed border, still an attractive item and the first such Valentine envelope from the Isle of Man we have seen.

1838 Entire letter from Italy to New York via Liverpool with red Bergamo datestamp, backstamped at London and Liverpool, the 4/8 rate crossed out and a superb strike of the scarce boxed "Postage Not Paid" (LL293) applied in red. The letter has no further cancels or rates and was probably retained in Liverpool. The earliest recorded use of this Postage Not Paid handstamp. Photo on Page 68.
