World-class Rarities at Corinphila Auctions in Zurich
An ‘Inverted Swan’ from the Australian State of Western Australia and a ‘Small Dollar’ of China are the outstanding items in the forthcoming Corinphila auction series, which will be held in Zurich from 28 May to 2 June 2018. Additionally to these two top-class items, collectors will find an outstanding selection of attractive philatelic and postal history material from all over the world. The auction itself will present, in five catalogues, the most comprehensive range of material of recent years - both in terms of the number of lots and the value of the material being offered.
The auction at a glance
In addition to the two world rarities of China and Australia, many other international collecting areas are on offer at Corinphila. Due to the large amount of material the auction will take place from Monday to Saturday, over just one week from28 May to 2 June 2018. There are five auction catalogues: in addition to the main catalogue of ‘International Philately and Postal History’ there are four special catalogues, ‘Switzerland Classical to Modern’, plus ‘Switzerland - The Jack Luder Collection III’, and also ‘Romania’ with the specialised collection of Eduard Cohen (untouched since the 1960s, stored in a London vault!). In addition there is a special ‘Australian States’ catalogue.

A wide range of classic material awaits you in four catalogues:
in addition to the extensive offer of material in the main catalogue with philatelic and postal history material from all over the world, above all the specialised BESANÇON collection of Australia & Australian States collection has already 'made waves' in the run-up. Rarely has a comparable collection been offered in recent years, if not decades.
In the second part of the Jack Luder collection of cantonal and federal stamps, lovers of Swiss philately may look forward to its no less spectacular continuation. With the very rare Rayon II with complete framed cross on cover from Grandson to Aubonne, a rarity of the first rank being offered for sale. The continuation takes place in the Switzerland special catalogue with further classic rarities, Shipmail of Lake Konstanz as well as an exceptional range of soldiers’ stamps from the estate of Karlheinz Brunner.
The range of ‘philatelic material from all over the world’ in our Europe & Worldwide catalogue is of the highest standard: the collecting areas of Greek ‘Hermes heads, specialised according to printings and numbers printed, a fine Thailand collection, pioneer air mail of French Guiana and the Pierre Saulgrain collection of French pioneer air mail are outstanding.

The auction will start Wednesday, June 7 through to Saturday June 10, 2017 and will be hold in our premises at Wiesenstrasse 8, 4th floor, in Zurich.
A wide range of classic material awaits you in one five catalogues: The International Large Gold awarded (2016) collection of Greece, 'Postal Routes on Overseas Mail 1861-1878', a collection of Norwegian ship mail put together over 50 years, the first part of the Jack Luder collection of Swiss cantonal and federal stamps, each item in the collection being of excellent quality, also our special Switzerland catalogue with rarities from the SEEBUB Grand Prix collection such as the legendary Renan cover.
Also the 'philately from around the world' material in our Europe & worldwide catalogue is of excellent quality: the collecting area of Greece: Hermes Heads is outstanding, being specialised according to printings and issues, also some pioneering French Guiana air mail, transit mail via Italy 1815-52, Romania with the second part of the Eduard Cohen collection of the lithographed issues of 1865-72, as well as a specialised collection of Egypt.
The Swiss philatelic material, from classical to modern, is particularly attractive. There are impressive blocks of rayon and Strubel issues, rare postmarks, beautiful covers and many varieties which will gladden the heart of any collector of Switzerland. Among the foreign collecting areas are some outstanding France in the special ‘BESANÇON’ catalogue, as well as in the main catalogue itself. There are also Calssic Austria, Italy & Colonies, Egypt with the Klaus Derlin collection and the estate of Dr. Adel Farid, the Scadta Air Mail collection of Dr. Peter Schicke, exhibited internationally at BRASILIANA 2013, as well as Zeppelin memorabilia.
The sheer variety of Philately in all its glory - the 205th to 209th Corinphila auctions from 15 to 18 June 2016 in Zurich
From 15 to 18 June 2016 the next series of auctions by the traditional Swiss house of Corinphila will take place in Zurich. As well as a high-class range of stamps, covers and postal history from all over the world, several exceptional specialised collections will come up for sale.
Wonderful highlights of Europe and the whole world (Auction 205)
The American continent is represented by Argentina, with the specialised collection of the 'Confederation 1858', 'Republic of 1862' and 'Rivadavia 1864-1872' issues of Dr Hugo Goeggel
The range of European classical philatelic material is also impressive, with a specialised collection of 'Church-state foreign covers ', including unusual destinations such as Australia, Bavaria, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Palma de Mallorca and Tunisia. France is also represented by a specialised collection of foreign covers of the classical issues, including a colourful 1849 franking with the 'Ceres' 20 c. and 1 fr. to Austria - probably a unique combination. Eduardo Cohen’s legendary specialised collection of Romania, the lithographed issues of 1865-1872, is another sensation. The collection was lost for over half a century. The Poland material includes, among other, overprint rarities of the Kraków issue of 1919, and the POCZTA POLSKA issue on 'Kronen' values of Austria.
Egypt includes, among other things, the last part of the Peter A.S. Smith collection with emphasis on postage due stamps, as well as a fantastic four-colour franking of the Sphinx issue of 1872 from the overseas post office at Massawa. Another highlight is the specialised 'ASAFIA' collection (India - Feudatory State of Hyderabad). A special section of Zeppelin and air mail, including Zeppelin rarities of the Italy flight of 1933 as well as stamp issues and covers of transatlantic flights to South America, Brazil and Argentina in 1933/34 completes the material on offer.
The Nepal, Bulgaria & France special catalogues (Auctions 206-208)
The special catalogues of Auctions 206 to 208 also offer splendid variety, beginning with the international Large Gold winning specialised collection of 'NEPAL' of Dr Wolfgang C. Hellrigl, embracing the Indian post in Nepal but also the stamp issues for Nepalese domestic mail. The specialised collection 'Bulgaria 1878-1893' of Earl Galitz, which was also awarded international Large Gold, includes rare covers of the early issues as well as unused multiples, proofs. The 'BESANÇON' (France) collection has particular emphasis on unused multiples of classic issues, including the 'Ceres' 1 franc vermilion of 1849 in an unused block of four.
Confederation philately (Auction 209 - Switzerland and Liechtenstein)
To round off the auction series there is another outstanding range of Swiss philatelic material, with a further part of the international Grand Prix award winning 'SEEBUB' collection, the first part of the specialised 'RÜSCHLIKON' collection with many rare postmarks and covers, as well as a varied general section of Switzerland from classical to modern.
